Indus kay Sitaraey

As a part of community service and sustainability program at DSU, students helped organize the first graduation ceremony of “Indus kay SItarey”, a hospital based school at the Indus Hospital, located within the premises of the campus. The objective of this program is to impart the education to the children going under the treatment for cancer and any other chronic disease with a prolonged treatment. The first batch of 18 students have completed elementary level education. The school has been established in collaboration with Shah Wilayat Public School (SWIPS). 10 students from the Management Sciences Department volunteered in this event on the 6th and 7th of September 2018.

Tree Plantation Training

On 3rd September, a group of students from DHA Suffa University went to Phase 8 to get training and brief orientation on planting trees in a deserted area. The brief training was conducted by a gardener from Horticulture Pakistan. The students learnt how to dig and sow the infant plant. Students were made a part of this activity to get brief training in learning the procedure of sowing a plant. This was conducted to prepare the volunteers for a tree plantation drive that would be held in DHA Suffa in the future.

DSU Community Academy

Students of the Management Sciences Department in collaboration with the CSR department initiated the DSU Community Academy in fall 2017. This literacy elevation initiative was a teaching program aimed at enhancing basic English and Mathematics skills of children from underprivileged areas of Karachi. Currently 20 children from the neighboring slum of Qayyumabad have been inducted into the DSU community academy program and have successfully completed 40 contact hours. The DSU community academy is run by student volunteers under the supervisor of DSU faculty volunteers and is fully funded by the university. This education initiative will continue as a regular activity at DSU.
