Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) Control and A.I. Based Projects

Engineering is about following a systematic approach to analyze systems and finding viable solutions to complex problems. Engineers are required to propose design solutions using systematic approach instead of the plug & play approach. This approach can also be seen in our final projects in the areas of Control Systems and Artificial Intelligence. Two such EE final year projects, one with PID based Controller and the other with Facial Recognition approaches, have been internationally recognized in the form of research papers and presented by EE-DSU students in an international IEEE Conference in Malaysia. Our projects have been accepted in Teknofest 2020, Turkey, one of the largest technical events in the world and have also secured funding from the national agency, Ignite.

FYPs and Sustainable Solutions

Major Final Year Projects (FYPs) Achievements by Students in 2020:

1) FYP Publications by Electrical Engineering Students presented in renowned International Conferences Icetas Malaysia and IEEE T.E.C Chicago USA.

2) 5 FYPs of EE Participation in International Project Competition, Istanbul Turkey Teknofest İstanbul TeknoFest 2020

3) Ignite – National Technology Fund Funding of EE FYPs

4) FYP Ideas pitched by Electrical Engineering Students in Startup.pk Startup Pitchfest 2020

In EE@DSU students are free to discuss and choose their projects of local or international nature and are challenged to work on cutting-edge technologies and tools to bring effective and efficient solutions to ensure their success in professional life. Our students have successfully developed solutions for real world problems based on emerging technologies such as Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Industry 4.0.

DSU EE FYPs showcase the skills of our graduates to use engineering, sciences, and technology for real world problems. Students are exposed to the real world challenges like water crisis, energy management issues, transportation, Leak Detection in pipelines, Monitoring and control of energy systems, Design and Development of Electric Vehicle, Energy Trading, Vertical Landing and Takeoff Vehicle, Intelligent Solutions using Image Processing, Predictive Maintenance of Electrical Machines, and Plants, Industrial Internet of Things to realize the Digital Transformation for Industries.

Vertical Solar and Wind Energy Tower | Power Engineering FYP |

Since most of the present energy demand is met by fossil fuels and nuclear power plants. A small part is met by renewable energy technologies. Among them, the wind and solar power sources have experienced a rapid growth. Both are pollution free sources of abundant power. This paper represents an idea as to how to utilize these sources in best way to produce electricity.

For this project we will be using both resources to produce electricity. A savonius turbine is designed to capture the wind power and transfer it to the charge controller where it will be stabilized and transferred to the battery which will further transfer to the inverter and then to the load. Similarly, solar panel on top of the structure is implemented to extract voltages from sun rays and transfer to the MPPT where it will be stabilized and the same procedure as wind will occur. A switching technique is used to determine which of the sources are much efficient at that particular time. The one that will be producing more voltages will be presented further.

Mechanical Engineering Labs SOPs

As per the comprehensive policies and guidelines issued by the HEC and CIEC, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at DHA Suffa University plans to resume some of its academic activities for students from September 15, 2020. All ME Labs and other facilities have been revamped with special COVID-19 safety protocols. In addition, personal safety of student, faculty and administrative staff will be ensured as per the SOPs envisaged. The SOPs are mandatory and have to be strictly followed. A detailed document with all the mandatory SOPs which include use of masks, hand sanitizers, and social distancing has been shared with members of DSU family including students.
