Educational trip to FFC Energy Limited, Jhimpir was organized by Engr. Naveed Ahmed Khatri – Industrial Liaison Officer, ME Department in collaboration with Mr. Danish Ayub – Senior Executive, FFC on Tuesday 23rd May 2023. Semester VIII students enrolled in “Power Plants” and “Renewable Energy Technology” courses were the target audience, accompanied by two faculty members, Engr. Dr. Muhammad Nauman Qureshi and Engr. Naveed Ahmed Khatri. The history of the power plant and its operations were explained to the students by FFC engineers. Students also visited their control room, MV room, battery room, sports complex and power generation area. The visit was extremely helpful to get the practical understanding of wind power plants and their operations.

Guest Speaker Session on ‘Goal Setting and Personal Action Plan

Under the supervision of Ms. Tehseen Azhar- Director of Alumni Relations & Senior Lecturer MS, a guest speaker session was conducted by Mr. Maaz Mustafa Kamal, Head of HR, Culture & OD at Premium Textile Mills Ltd. on ‘Goal Setting and Personal Action Plan’. The session was conducted at DSU’s ELT on Tuesday, 23rd March 2023 for the students of the Personal Development course (BBA 3).

After the Goal Setting and Personal Action Plan session, participants should have a clearer understanding of the importance of setting goals and be equipped with practical strategies to achieve them. They have gained insights into the SMART framework for goal setting, enabling them to create specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals.

The session empowered participants to identify their personal goals by encouraging self-reflection and exploration of their aspirations. By recognizing their desires and aligning them with their values, participants have taken a crucial step towards creating a fulfilling and purposeful life.

Additionally, participants have learned the significance of breaking down goals into manageable steps and creating an action plan. They understand that the journey toward achieving their goals requires consistent effort and dedication. With this knowledge, participants are better prepared to overcome challenges, stay motivated, and make progress toward their desired outcomes.

At the end of this highly interactive activity-based session, Dr. Sobia Iqbal, HoD Management Sciences, presented a memento to Mr. Maaz Mustafa Kamal as a token of thanks on behalf of DSU.

Corporate Governance

Presentation by Barrister Naseem Bajwa

Barrister Bajwa has been associated with International School Of Business And Law (ISOBAL) for 20 years. He visits Karachi regularly.

In March this year, ISOBAL arranged a seminar on Introduction to Corporate Governance at DHA Suffa University.

This particular lecture in May 2023 focused on the rules and regulations pertaining to the selection of Directors and their fiduciary duties.
It maybe added that inspite of the situation in Karachi the Barrister managed to complete his lectures successfully before Friday prayers.
Professor Iqbal Shafiq has requested the respected Barrister to give a repeat performance soon.

Exclusive Session on Trading Futures at PMEX

Management Sciences Department of DSU in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Relations organized an exclusive session on ‘Trading Futures at PMEX’ by Mr. Zaki-ur-Rehman, Head of Business at Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX). The session was held at DSU’s Auditorium on Monday, 8th May 2023, and in attendance were 150+ finance cluster students of Management Sciences. Ms. Tehseen Azhar, Director of Alumni Relations & Senior Lecturer MS, Mr. Muhammad Waqas, Senior Lecturer MS, Ms. Subeika Rizvi, Senior Lecturer MS, Mr. Muhammad Akbar Saeed, Senior Lecturer MS, Ms. Saima Sardar Khan, Dir. SSCC & Lecturer MS, Ms. Erum Fatima, Lecturer MS, and Mr. Azam Anwar, Lecturer MS, attended the session alongwith their respective classes.

Mr. Zaki-ur-Rehman, provided a brief introduction of PMEX, its functioning and the existing and upcoming products available for trading. He enlightened the students regarding the benefits of this platform and how they can leverage it to start earning with a minimum amount of investment. PMEX will also be training final year finance students of MS Dept. on their premises and will also offer internships to the selected students that will lead to full time jobs based on the performance.

At the end of this highly interactive session, Pro-VC, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saeed Minhas, presented a memento to Mr. Zaki-ur-Rehman on behalf of DSU as a token of thanks.

COLLABORATION BETWEEN DHA SUFFA UNIVERSITY AND INDUSTRY GIANT SYSTEMS LTD.

Great partnership and collaboration between DHA Suffa University and Industry giant Systems Ltd.

Systems Ltd. has assigned dedicated industry experts in co-teaching Software Quality Assurance course alongside our Senior Lecturer Mr. Noor Ali. Their experts, Ms. Javeria and Mr. Ahad are providing hands on traininng on Automation Testing using Selenium.

DHA Suffa University acknowledges the dedication and the great effort put in by Systems Ltd. team.

We intend to arrange more of such engagements and offer more courses with hands-on experience with industry experts. This will enable our students to be industry ready.

DHA Suffa University conducts Self-Review of PG Programs

DHA Suffa University conducted Self-Review of PG programs on 7th April 2023 with the objective to ascertain whether these programs meet their educational objectives and outcomes as per HEC’s criteria. The Review Panel comprised of Engr. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Saand (Professor CE, Convener), Dr. Huma Jamshed (Assistant Professor Computer Science, Member) and Engr. Dr. Syed Fazal Abbas Baqueri (Assistant Professor Civil Engineering, Member).

The panel reviewed the program proformas, program files, faculty files and student files as per HEC’s checklist. The panel also conducted Q&A sessions with MS & PhD students as well as faculty members of PG programs. The panel toured the campus and visited the library, classrooms and laboratories to observe the quality of facilities available on campus.

In the end, the panel met the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal Haque and shared their views about the review process undertaken by the panel.

The review process was facilitated by the QEC at DHA Suffa University in collaboration with the academic and administrative departments.
