MOCK PANEL INTERVIEWS – 24th June, 2022

Under the supervision of Ms. Tehseen Azhar – Director of Alumni Relations and Senior Lecturer (MS), a Mock Panel Interviews session was organized at DSU on Friday, June 24th, 2022, the session was exclusively for the students of the Professional Development course (BBA VII).

The panelists for the session were Mr. Tabish Azmat – GM HR & Admin – Lucky Group, Ms. Wajeeha Khan – Head of HR & Admin – Matco Foods Ltd., Mr. Talha Malik – Manager Supply Chain – Midas Safety, Mr. Muhammad Asad Iqbal – Head of HR Strategy & Digitalization – Gerry’s dnata, Ms. Hafsa Naeem – Enterprise Sales Leader – HashMove and Mr. Maaz Mustafa Kamal – HR Consultant.

The objective of these mock panel interviews was to offer graduating students a simulation of actual job interviews and provide them immediate constructive feedback. The panelists put them in real-life scenarios and asked how they would tackle/resolve those particular issues. Provided a glimpse of what the recruiters look for in a particular candidate of their chosen field, how they can improve their profile to stand out from the crowd and how they can ace the interviews to get their preferred jobs. The session was attended by 36 final year students of the MS Department.

Industrial Visit to Lucky Textiles Mills Ltd. – 27th June, 2022

An Industrial visit to Lucky Textiles Mills Ltd. was arranged on Monday 27th June 2022, under the supervision of Ms. Tehseen Azhar – Director Alumni Relations & Senior Lecturer, MS and Ms. Sadia Mehboob – Lecturer, MS, for the students of Leadership & Team Management (BBA VII & VIII) and Business Law (BBA III) courses. A total of 32 students, 2 DSU faculty members and 1 DSU staff member went on this industrial visit, where they were briefed about the Lucky textiles policies & practices and visited the production unit.

Lucky Textiles Mills Ltd. is a renowned name in the textile sector. Lucky Textile follows the top Quality Assurance and management system – ISO 9001:2015. Lucky Textile operates on the Triple Bottom Line approach and invests carefully towards Planet, People & Prosperity. The company has a diversified team comprising talents from USA, UK, France and Pakistan. Lucky Textiles minimize water wastage by treating 4,500 m3 of water per day to use recycled water in production processes.

The visit to Lucky Textiles was worth the wait and efforts, as the management of Lucky Textiles, including Mr. Yousaf, Mr. Rao Umar, and representatives of HR, Maintenance & Security, HEC, and Quality Control departments gave brief presentations about the company policies and practices. They discussed the perks and benefits company employees get, like numerous funds, training and educational benefits for their constant personal and professional growth. After the presentations, the group visited the production unit, where they learned about the step-by-step textile manufacturing process.

Overall this informational visit was beneficial for the students and provided exposure to the textile industry. Students participated enthusiastically throughout by asking interesting and relevant questions. Every query was catered nicely by the company’s employees with detailed information about each process.

DSUMUN IV

A three day DSUMUN IV conference organized from 24th to 26th June, 2022. This remarkable event drew massive attention of students from schools, colleges, universities. The delegates appreciated the conference as it was a blend of social and academic activities. In the closing ceremony a well-known motivational speaker and professional trainer Mr. Syed Nusrat Ali graced the event. He emphasized on holding such events and appreciated the efforts by the management and DSUMUN team. The Pro Vice-chancellor Brig. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saeed Minhas distributed the prizes and appreciated the delegates’ interest and resolutions. DUSMUN IV received a tremendous appreciation from the audience on holding a fascinating concert and remarkable conference. It was a good blend of entertainment and academic activities.

 

Industrial Trip to HUBCO Plant

The Department of Mechanical Engineering arranged a full day industrial trip to HUBCO Plant for the students of semester VIII students enrolled in an elective Power Plants course on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. Under the supervision of Engr. Safa Sattar, the students visited HUBCO Plant where they observed the operations of Boiler, pump, condenser, steam turbine, heat exchangers and generators. Students also experienced the importance of working safely in a plant. They were able to identify the input and output of Rankine Cycle and understand the concept of thermal Rankine cycle performance. Heavy Feed water pumps hydraulic mechanism and speed regulation control were also observed. The plant visit was followed by the Q&A session where students’ queries were answered by the head of the Plan.

The trip was a great learning opportunity for students as it helped students relate many concepts studied in the classroom with real-life settings.

 

 

 

Session on “Digitalization’s Impact on Supply Chain Management”

Mr. Sohail Sawani, Deputy Director SC & IT, Genix Pharma (Private) Limited was invited as a guest speaker to address BBA V Productions & Operations Management (POM) students on “Digitalization’s Impact on Supply Chain Management and Inventory Management” on June 20, 2022 from 1100 to 1230.
Mr. Sohail enlightened the students with his 15+ years of rich industry experience and apprised them of digital supply chain, AI, IoT and inventory management. He also discussed how digitalization can help organisations gain competitive advantage and improve the efficiency of their production and delivery.
Mr. Sohail appreciated the quality of questions asked by students. The session was interactive and informative and ended with a vote of thanks and a token of appreciation, which was presented by Ms. Erum Fatima, Course Instructor POM.

Recruitment Drive by Vectracom Private Limited

With immense excitement we are happy to announce that approximately 65 students appeared for the recruitment drive for Vectracom Private Limited. It was a drive for the placements and internships for the students of last semester and other semesters respectively. We are delighted to let you know that this recruitment drive was a big success as the turn over for the drive was huge. Where we expected approximately 20 students, thrice the number of expected participants participated. About 10% participation was given from Management Sciences Department, 20% participation was from the Electrical Engineering Department, 30% participation was given by the Software Engineering Department whereas 40% participation was contributed by the Computer Sciences Department. Kudos to the CS&CR Department of DSU, the students who participated and the faculty who invested their precious time and energy to make this event a big success for the department.
