Session on “Leadership role in the future jobs perspective”

On Monday, 6th December 2021, the Department of Management and Social Sciences at DHA Suffa University organized a guest speaker session on the topic, “Leadership role in the future jobs perspective”. The event was organized for the benefit of the BBA students, related to the course “Organizational Behavior”, under the supervision of their course instructor, Ms. Sadia Mehboob.

The session was conducted by Mr Shahbaz Islam, who has been associated with academia as a Trainer, Teacher and a Coach with more than 25 years of experience. He is an M.B.A from Institute of Business Administration-Karachi. Mr Shahbaz is serving Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) as a General Manager (GM).

Mr. Shahbaz briefed the audience, about personal branding, and he talked about how the role of leader is changing in future jobs perspective. He enlightened students with new trends of business practices and also shared his experiences from corporate sector.

The event was graced by Professor Dr. Ahmed Saeed Minhas Pro-Vice Chancellor, DHA Suffa University. The session was concluded with his concluding remarks and vote of thanks, followed by presentation of plaque of appreciation to Mr Shahbaz Islam.

QA Awareness Seminars for the Students of MS & HSS

As per QEC’s practice at DSU, a series of interactive quality assurance awareness seminars was conducted for the students of Management Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences. The seminars, conducted by Ms. Fatima Kiran (QEC Coordinator, MS & HSS), focused on HEC’s self-assessment criteria, ranking criteria and maximum scores for each criterion, self-assessment of programs, feedback and survey forms, and outcomes of assessment. Q&A sessions were held at the end of each seminar to answer the queries of students.

Grand Launch Event of Google Developer Student Club at DHA Suffa University

On 2nd December 2021, Google Developer Student Club at DHA Suffa University conducted its first Grand Launch event for the first time, after arranging 50+ online coding boot camps last year.

In Grand Launch Event, Umer Abdullah. A Solutions Engineer from Google was invited to share his journey to Google with all the students. Not only students of DHA Suffa University but alumni also joined. Other GDSC’s of Karachi were also joined by the ceremony.

The ceremony included the introduction of a new GDSC lead selected for this year, Hassam Jawed, preceded by Syed Ateeq.

He shared his views to continue the legacy and help students learn to code and land good opportunities in the Tech industry.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Ms. Eram Abbasi, Faculty Advisor of GDSC for the tenure of 2021-2022.

Session on “Ruminations to explore the Rumi-Iqbal Matrix”

The English Program and Literary Society, DHA Suffa University held a soul-stirring session, “Ruminations” to explore the Rumi-Iqbal matrix. Renowned playwright, poet and literary critic, Mr. Zafar Mairaj was the guest speaker. Program Manager English, Dr. Sarah Syed Kazmi and Dean Management and Social Sciences Professor Dr. Bashir Ahmad dilated upon different aspects of Iqbal and Rumi’s poetry. The session was followed by question and answers session by the students.

Session on “Design and Applications of Central Processing Units (CPUs)”

On Tuesday, 23rd November 2021, the Department of Management and Social Sciences at DHA Suffa University organized a guest speaker session on the topic, “Design and Applications of Central Processing Units (CPUs)”. The event was organized for the benefit of the BBA, BS A&F, and BS English students, related to the course “Introduction to Computing”, under the supervision of their course instructor, Ms. Sadia Mehboob.

The session was conducted by Engr. Rizwan Fazal, who has been associated with academia for the last 8 years. He has also served in the National Space Agency of Pakistan, SUPARCO, for more than 4 years in the Satellite Research & Development Center. He has worked as research associate in the department of Electronics & Communications Engineering at Tampere University of Technology, Finland. His current research interests include hardware and software design of heterogeneous computing systems.

Mr. Rizwan briefed the audience about the basic concepts of computer systems from the hardware and software perspective and enlightened students with lots of new trends and aspects of computer technology and also shared his experiences from corporate sector.

The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Bashir Ahmad, Dean Management and Social Sciences and Engr. Prof. Dr. Johar Khurshid Farooqi, Dean (EAS). The session was concluded with a Q/A session followed by presentation of plaque of appreciation to Engr. Rizwan Fazal by Engr. Prof. Dr. Johar Khurshid Farooqi, DHA Suffa University.

NCEAC Accreditation Visit for BS (CS) Program of DHA Suffa University

The NCEAC Accreditation Team visited the Department of Computer Science for BS (CS) program on 19th November 2021. The visit started with the introductory session of Convener (with the worthy Vice Chancellor and Dean, Engineering & Applied Sciences) where he explained the aim and scope of the Accreditation Visit and its Importance. Head of Department of Computer Science then presented to the Team the Program Goals, Summary of Curricula, Faculty, Students, and Infrastructure of the BS(CS) program. The Convener acknowledged the program’s current performance and also appreciated the Future Plans. The Team was highly impressed by the faculty, staff and facilities as both representatives; Dr. Jahangir Ikram, (Associate Professor, LUMS) and Dr. Muhammad Shahzad Asif (Professor, UET, Lahore) gave encouraging remarks at the end of the visit in their exit meeting with the Vice Chancellor in his office.
