Session on “Startup Journey”

On Saturday 26th June 2021 the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development at DSU (DSU-CEID) arrange a Startup Journey session with students of DHA Suffa University in which one of our DSU Alumni of the BBA department Hussain Ali Raza founder CEO of Forest Dry Fruits and Hygge Corner (Home Decor) was invited to share his valuable experience with the emerging entrepreneurs.
 
The session being quite interactive made it very interesting & engaging for the students. They asked many questions with a particular interest in the speaker’s challenges in his journey and how he overcame the hurdles. The speaker also shared tips regarding how to provide good customer service to the clients and how to utilize finances in their businesses that would help the budding entrepreneurs in their journey ahead. Both the speaker and students interacted in an informal way making this an excellent mode of sharing knowledge.
The purpose of initiating such sessions is to provide practical knowledge and realistic insight into the entrepreneurial journey so that they can excel themselves and their startups to a much efficient level to remain sustainable.
 
Concluding the event, Ms. Eram Abbasi Director at CEID expresses the note of thanks to the speaker and said that CEID has plans to arrange more Alumni Talks to motivate those who are starting their entrepreneurial journey.

Certificates Distribution Ceremony of NAVTTC Sponsored Batch-I Trainees under Prime Minister’s Kamyab Jawan “Skills for All” Program

On Sunday 04th July, 2021, DHA Suffa University conducted the Certificates Distribution Ceremony of Batch-I Trainees of Prime Minister’s Kamyab Jawan “Skills for All” Program.

DHA Suffa University feels proud to be among the selected universities that are contributing successfully towards meeting Prime Minister’s Vision of “Skills for All” under the partnership with National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC).

A total of 147 trainees successfully completed training in the demanding fields of Computer Aided Design/Engineering for Product Design, Renewable Energy Systems Design, Robotics & Autonomous Systems and Web Designing & Web Engineering.

The Chief Guest, Ms. Nabila Umer, DG NAVTTC Sindh Region, while appreciating the DHA Suffa University for their relentless efforts, congratulated the successful trainees and distributed the certificates among them.

She also reiterated the key objective behind PM’s Kamyab Jawan “Skills for All” Program and the investments the Government has been making on the emerging and high-tech trades under the partnership of NAVTTC. She also addressed the ongoing Batch-II trainees and urged them to make best use of well-equipped R&D labs of the University for attaining par excellence skills.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal Haque praised the efforts of Government and NAVTTC to launch such training in emerging technologies and high-tech trades for the first time in Pakistan. He believed this will pave the way for better future of Pakistani Youth.

The Pro Vice Chancellor Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saeed Minhas motivated the Batch-I trainees and offered them to utilize the lab facilities and faculty consultation in future also. He prayed for the success of the trainees in their future endeavors and also ensured the commitments of DHA Suffa University to build strong relationships with them for any of their future endeavors.

The Program Director NAVTTC at DHA Suffa Unviersity, Dr. Muhammad Nauman Qureshi shared success stories of a few trainees who have been able to gain self-reliance, to setup business based upon the skills-based hands-on training they completed at DHA Suffa University and the value addition they are bringing to their work environment.

With the help of its visionary leadership DHA Suffa University aims to serve the nation-building process through quality of its teaching standards.

 

RESEARCH SEMINAR- II from Department of Management Sciences

DHA Suffa University hosted its ‘Research Seminar – II’ from the Department of Management Sciences. The event took place on Tuesday, 29th June 2021 at Executive Lecture Theatre (ELT), DHA Suffa University, Karachi, Pakistan. Dr. Sobia Iqbal Asst. Professor DHA Suffa and the organizer of the session stated that the idea behind this seminar was to empower and enable a research approach in students with shared knowledge and activity-based learning on various research-related topics. This seminar expects to provide the participants a platform to present research approaches with transformational perspectives to business challenges and opportunities. The 32 groups of undergraduate and postgraduate students presented their researches in the following domains: Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain Management and Human Resource Management. The aim of this event was to build and showcase students’ research and presentation ability which are an important academic skills to possess.

The opening address was presented by Dr. Sobia Iqbal and Ms. Aisha Shams. A positive welcoming note and remarks were given by the Dean of the Institution, Dr. Johar Farooqi. Furthermore, welcome note and positive remarks were also expressed by Dr. Ahmed Saeed Minhas, Pro Vice Chancellor and Dr. Faheem Akhter, HoD Management Sciences at DHA Suffa University. The esteemed experienced guests presented for research evaluation were Dr. Muhammad Irfan Khan, Dr. Shamaila Burney and Dr. Adnan Butt brought the experience of academia. Furthermore, experienced guests Mr. Mustafa Yousuf and Mr. Muhammed Murad Alam helped bring the industry experience to the table. The research aimed to help students better understand and bridge the gap between the research and practical industry domains and fields.

Session On Study Abroad – Germany

IEEE DSU Student Branch with assistance of Electrical Engineering Department DHA SUFFA UNIVERSITY organized a 0.5pt CPD activity on “STUDY ABROAD” with Engr. M. Ovais Assistant Professor EE Dept. Engr. Ovais shared different aspects of his experience as a student in Germany.

Session On Study Abroad – South Korea

IEEE DSU Student Branch with assistance of EE Department DHA SUFFA UNIVERSITY organized a 0.5pt CPD activity on “STUDY ABROAD” our first episode is with Engr. Dr. Bizzat Hussain. He shared different aspects of his experience as a student in South Korea.

 

Webinar on “Modern Practices in Supply Chain Management”

A hybrid mode webinar entitled “Modern Practices in Supply Chain Management” was held on 23rd June 2021  at Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI ) headquarters in Karachi. It was jointly chaired by President FPCCI Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo –  and Vice Chancellor DSU Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal Haque whereas Ms. Farhat Umar Director PDC conducted the said webinar.

The initiative was spearheaded by Prof. Naqi Azam, Advisor to the VC DHA Suffa University and Sheikh Sultan Rehman – VP FPCCI. This landmark event was a first in DSU history with FPCCI.

The collaboration between DSU & FPCCI is to bridge academia and industry.  Such corporate linkages in economic & business sectors in Pakistan are a giant leap forward in the right direction. The webinar was highly interactive followed by a vibrant questions and answers session.

It was largely attended by Pakistan’s industrialists and SME business owners including participants from Malaysia via Zoom.
