Session on Role of Teachers in Nation Building

An interactive session on the “Role of Teachers in Nation Building” was held in the Executive Lecture Theatre of DHA Suffa University on September 30, 2020. The session was conducted by Vice Admiral (R) Syed Arifullah Hussaini, HI(M), President Nation Building Initiative, a society formed to unify the people of Pakistan through social harmony and economic growth.

Vice Admiral (R) Syed Arifullah Hussaini discussed the importance of teachers aligning their individual purposes of life with the purpose of their institutions, and ultimately the nation, in order to inculcate an altruistic mindset in students. He spoke about creating an enabling environment for the people, institutions and the government to work in synergy for a common purpose. He particularly emphasized on understanding, living by and promoting the Constitution and National Anthem of Pakistan by implementing it in our daily lives.

Sharing real-life anecdotes, Vice Admiral (R) Syed Arifullah Hussaini motivated the audience to implement the Constitution of Pakistan in true letter and spirit in order to build a prosperous nation. It was evident from the active participation of the audience that they found the session to be extremely beneficial. In the end, Engr. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal Haque, Vice Chancellor, DHA Suffa University, presented a shield and a certificate to the speaker as a token of appreciation.

 

 

 

 

Faculty Learning and Development Workshop

On September 24th 2020, the Department of Career Services and Corporate Relations (CS&CR) in collaboration with Management Sciences Department organized a Faculty Learning and Development Workshop for all the Faculty of DSU in the ELT of DHA Suffa University. The objective of organizing Faculty Learning and Development Workshop was for Lecturers to achieve teaching innovation, personal grooming, time management and personal development. The speaker for this session was Mr. Ali Yasin, Senior Manager, HR at PTCL. He talked about Developing Future Leaders and the role of reflection in the classroom by emphasizing the importance of feedback during his talk.

The session was attended by 30+ faculty members from all the departments of DHA Suffa University. The participants actively took part in various discussions that took place during the session in full zeal. The Department of CS&CR concluded the session by presenting a token of appreciation to the speaker. A shield and certificate was presented by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saeed Minhas, Pro  Vice- Chancellor, DSU to the speaker.

Mock Interviews

The Department of Career Services and Corporate Relations (CS&CR) organized Mock Interview for the Final Year Students of MS Department at DHA Suffa University. The objective of Mock Interview for final year MS students was to prepare them for appearing successfully in job interviews. In order to maximize the efficiency of this session, mock Interviews were scheduled into two sessions, the first session was conducted on June 4 and the second session was conducted on June 11, 2020. These sessions were conducted online, using Zoom Video Communications.

The Interviewers for the 1st session were Uzma Hayat Khan, Head of HR at Greenstar Social Marketing and Shahryar Husain, Senior Manager HRBP at PTCL. The interviewers for the 2nd session were Sana Rehman, Deputy Manager Recruitment & Training (Talent Acquisition Lead) at Pak Suzuki and Sanaullah Munir, Group Deputy Manager HR at Binary Vibes. Reportedly, 30+ final year students of MS Department participated in Mock Interviews this semester. Muhammad Farhan, Executive Coach, Master Trainer Independent Consultant also joined the session on June 11, 2020 as a guest. He mentioned and suggested a few general HR practices which may help students in landing up on their dream jobs. The Department of CS&CR concluded each session by presenting a token of appreciation to the speakers.

Session on “Covid-19: Issues Faced by Students and Parents”

Professional Development Centre at DSU conducted a discussion on “Covid-19: Issues Faced by Students and Parents” with Mr. Ahmed Saya (Cambridge University Best Teacher Award Winner, Coach, Motivational Speaker, Trainer, Co-Founder The Bridge School).

Mr. Saya talked about the physiological issues that may arise and what can be done proactively about it. He spoke about coping mechanisms parents and students may use while facing the current limited mobility/lockdown/ economic slowdown situation. He shared from his experience, and insight being associated with the teaching profession for almost 2 decades.

The issues discussed in the session resonated with the audience which ended with an active Q&A.

Online Session on “Money Matters in Challenging Times”

Professional Development Centre at DSU conducted a discussion session on “Money Matters in Challenging Times” with Mr. Naqi Azam (President Mylynx, Senior International Banker, Entrepreneur).

Mr. Naqi Azam discussed about financial aspects for individuals and households, due to job cuts, salary cuts and uncertainty. He shared from his experience, and insights developed from decades of experience working in local and international markets. He also advised people on how to save in the current economic climate.

The session ended with a live Q&A round and was attended by professionals from all walks of life.
