‘Startup Baithak’

Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation Development (CEID) recently organized the first stage of Startup Gathering Program ‘Startup Baithak’ exclusively for Alumni who are interested in mentorship for their business ideas or in need for strategic opinions for  their running startup. Mr. Shabbir Halai, a Pakistani American Engineer running his business in USA for long and having widespread experience of working in the Microelectronics industry in USA and Canada, was the lead mentor for that session.

During the session he shared his valuable experience with the young entrepreneurs and discussed the modern insights of entrepreneurial practices throughout the globe. Mr. Halai had a very detailed and interactive sessions with all the startups where he not only discussed and addressed the problems related to each startup’s operations but also provided one-to-one mentoring and feedback to all the startups for further advancement and sustainability of their startups in the long run.

The purpose of initiating such sessions is to provide practical knowledge, realistic insight and entrepreneurial support for our alumni so that they can excel themselves and their startups to a much efficient level to remain sustainable.

It was a very interactive session and well-received by alumni as well as DSU faculty & management. Members from various Startups were present to attend that session and were well satisfied and benefited a lot with the valuable guidance and tips being offered by Mr. Halai.

All Pakistan 35th IEEEP Student’s Seminar at DSU

DHA Suffa University (DSU) is a new generation University that has assumed the reputation of one of the leading University of the country. DHA Suffa University in collaboration with Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Pakistan organized All Pakistan 35th IEEEP student’s seminar at DSU. Pakistan’s prominent scientist and former HEC Chairman Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman was the chief guest of the seminar.
Major Universities from Pakistan were invited in this seminar including NEDUET, SSUET, Bahria Islamabad Campus, Riphah University, UET Texila, Mehran University Jamshoro, Sindh University, Mehran University SZAB Campus, NUST PNEC, Ziauddin University and Quaid-e-Awam University. The students presented their FYP from the domain of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering/Computer Science, Electronics, Biomedical and other ICT related fields.
As per the tradition of this event, best three from Undergraduate as well as Postgraduate papers of the seminar were awarded and recognized. Best selected papers were shortlisted for participation in IEEEP Multi topic Symposium 2020.
Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman said that education is the lifeline of a nation on which depends the progress and prosperity of the country. He appreciated the DHA Suffa University for making quality educational facilities for the community.

 

 

Workshop on Significance of Coaching & Mentoring

A workshop was recently conducted by DSU’s Professional Development Centre on Executive Group Coaching by Wealth and Business Coach and Banker Mr. Sheeraz Nasim Khan. In his session, he shared how HR goals can be set and organizational challenges can be overcome with executive coaching, and how the tools for executive coaching may be used. The workshop was attended by professionals with teams from various backgrounds and was very well received. The purpose of the interactive discussion was to help create coaching & mentoring culture, and a framework within organizations. The workshop ended with Q&A and networking.

 

EPC Session on Data Science

An Enhancing Professional Capacities (EPC) session on Data Science and its Applications was recently arranged by Professional Development Centre for the students of DSU. Ms. Behjat Qurban, Head of AI & Analytics, Learning & Development Lead, Deloitte UK and Konain Qurban, CEO, Frontier Technology Institute addressed a class full of keen students wanting to know more about the real world applications of this data science. The speakers talked about the emerging field of Data Science, its prospects in Pakistan and globally along with the benefits and challenges it offers to institutions and corporations. Drawing from her experience at Deloitte UK, Ms. Behjat also shared interesting anecdotes on how data improves long term performance and how it should be documented and stored for better decision making. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A round.
This EPC session was conducted as part of the University’s mission to make the curriculum more current and industry-relevant, by inviting practitioners who share their professional knowledge and insights on application of the concepts taught in our classrooms.

 

 

 

Campus Drive at DSU by Warwick University, Queen Mary University, Cambridge Education Group & British Council

Country Managers of Warwick University, Queen Mary University & Cambridge Education Group visited DSU on 20th Jan 2020 to conduct a Campus Drive for students. They were also accompanied by the ‘International Education Services’ Team of British Council as well as British Council’s IELTS representatives.  The objective of this Campus Drive organized by DSU’s IERC (International Education Resource Center) was to give students an opportunity to explore options of higher studies in UK and to learn about graduate degree programs offered by various British Universities.
