World Environment Day is observed annually on June 5th to raise awareness and inspire action for the protection and conservation of our planet.SGS Pakistan Ltd is a distinguished organization committed to environmental excellence.

A special talk was delivered by the spokespersons of SGS Pakistan Ltd to share valuable insights and perspectives on environmental conservation and sustainable practices. Mr. Sajid Nazir from SGS Paksitan Ltd , delivered his presentation tilted “Environmental & Legal Legislations in Pakistan”

Mr Imran Luqman from SGS Pakistan Ltd delivered his presentation titled “Save Water Save Life”

Thatta Trip: A Gateway to Cultural Heritage

BS English department arranged a day trip to Makli Necropolises, Keenjhar resort, and Shah Jahan mosque. Students explored the timeless wonders of these historical places and enjoyed the historicity which whispers through the ancient tombs and structures.

An Entrepreneurial event, organized by BBA 6 A & B students

An entrepreneurial event, organized by BBA 6 A & B students under the supervision of Sir Moin Ul Atiq, serves as a prerequisite for the ‘Effectual Entrepreneurship’ course. The event aims to enable students to understand and apply the basic concepts of effectuation and causation. This symposium provides a platform for experiential learning, encouraging students to gain practical knowledge relevant to starting a new business. Their demonstrated knowledge and skills contribute to their final term project. Participants from Sections A and B of Management Sciences will form groups, each managing one of approximately 14 stalls, where they will develop business ideas based on their passion.

The Head of the Department of Management Sciences, Dr. Sobia Iqbal visited the symposium and appreciated the students’ efforts and innovative ideas. Other faculty members also visited, encouraging the BBA students and praising the practical nature of the activity. They expressed hope that such initiatives would continue to foster combined efforts and creativity among the students.

Visit of BS English department to the office of Endowment Fund Trust (EFT)

The visit of BS English department to the office of Endowment Fund Trust (EFT)for the Preservation of the Heritage of Sindh was quite edifying. The purpose of the visit was to hold an academic discourse on the Brief History of Invasions in Sindh with Mr. Abdul Hameed Akhund, Secretary EFT Sindh. He is a former bureaucrat and a renowned scholar with a strong grip on Sindh’s culture, heritage and literature. He has authored many books, Tale of the Tile, Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, His Mystical Poetry and Bhitai, the Message of the Master are his countable contribution. He is a recipient of Shah Abul Latif Award as well.


His deep insight into Sindh’s history and culture, particularly regarding Muhammad Bin Qasim, was incredibly enriching. The conversation was truly enlightening and had a lasting impression on all.
We are especially grateful for the books he generously provided to one of our students and appreciate the valuable knowledge and time he shared with us. A Token of gratitude was presented to him from DSU for his generous donation of 50 books for DSU Library.

International Migration and Politics

A distinguished guest lecture arranged for International Relations students enrolled in “International Migration and Politics” and “Conflict Management and Resolution”. Pakistan’s leading peace scholar Professor Syed Sikander Mehdi, who has 50 years of teaching and research experience in Peace Studies and Migration Studies, delivered an extremely informative and engaging lecture on “Refugees, Migration and Conflicts in South Asia”. Besides teaching at the University of Dhaka and Karachi University, Professor Mehdi has taught peace studies and migration studies at the universities in Austria and Spain and availed research fellowships at the leading peace research centers in Norway, USA and Japan. For the first time, courses on peace studies and on migration studies were introduced by him in some public and private sector universities of Pakistan. He was also the founding director of the Refugee and Migration Studies at Karachi University.

In his lecture Professor Mehdi criticized Machiavellian thought and politics of conflicts, he emphasized on adopting a fresh, well integrated and cohesive approach for bringing sustainable peace and stability in South Asia. Through comparative analysis model, he built the context of how and why some regions are peaceful and developed while others are not. Professor Mehdi also suggested students to go abroad for higher education and better employment opportunities but always be available to serve Pakistan.
Following the enlightening talk by Professor Syed Sikander Mehdi, students and IR Faculty engaged fully in Q&A and discussion session. Dr. Samreen Bari (PM -IR) concluded by giving the vote of thanks. The session was organized and moderated by Dr. Sidra Ahmed.
