Visit to State Bank of Pakistan

Under the supervision of Ms. Tehseen Azhar, students of BBA visited State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on December 6, 2019. The objective of this visit was to provide students with an opportunity to learn about the HR Practices and Policies of SBP. The students were given a detailed orientation of the HR procedures as well SBP role as being the Head of all financial institutions. Also what steps are involved in appointing employees and interns at SBP. The group also visited the State Bank Museum and Art Gallery, where they observed a chronological display of Pakistani stamps, coins and currency notes issued after independence. Students also visited the Governors’ Gallery and saw the Declaration of Independence signed by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. In the Art Gallery, the group was enthralled to see Sadequain’s art portraying different eras. The visit was a great learning opportunity for students as it helped students relate many concepts studied in classroom to real setting.

MoU Signing between DHA Suffa University and Colaraz

On 23rd November 2019, DHA Suffa University embarked the innovative and progressive journey of formulating and digitizing its students’ career journey, by joining hands with Colaraz. Colaraz is a global platform for talent development, recruitment and engagement. The MOU was signed by Brig. Muhammad Rafiq Ahmed (Registrar) representing DHA Suffa University, in the presence of Mr. Muhammad Afzal Haque (Vice. Chancellor), Engr. Dr. Johar Khurshid (Dean), Mr. Kamran Saeed (Director CS & CR). Mr. Mubashar Hameed the Co-founder and CEO of Colaraz himself was present to sign the MOU, accompanied with Mr. Mohsin M. Siddique the Project Manager of Colaraz.

Colaraz bridges the gap between Academia and the Industry. The talent exchange network allows employers to have direct window to graduating students and alumni. Employers can instantly post jobs; receive applications from students and alumni; they can also explore a wide database of fresh talent pool and hire the right resource timely and hassle free, compare to existing intensive, and time taking processes. Mock Interviews

On December 11^th 2019, The Department of Career Services and Corporate Relations (CS&CR) in collaboration with Alumni Relations Department organized a Mock Interview for the Final Year Students of MS Department at DHA Suffa University. The objective of Mock Interviews for final year MS students was to prepare them for appearing in job interviews aptly and successfully. The Interviewer for the Mock Interviews was Shahrukh Ali, Manager Talent Acquisition at Gul Ahmed and Ms. Tehseen Azhar, Director Alumni Relations at DSU.

The session was attended by 30+ final year students of MS Department. The Department of CS&CR concluded the session by presenting a token of appreciation to the speaker. A goody bag and a shield was presented by Ms. Tehseen, Director of Alumni Relations, DSU to the speaker.

Session on Suicide and its Prevention

Suicide is an ongoing problem that has been existing in the world since a very long time. This problem is most common amongst the younger lot. Unfortunately, suicide has become a taboo and is not talked about out in the open. To address this problem and make the students of DSU aware of the symptoms and preventions of suicide, the CSR department arranged a session on suicide and its prevention on the 6^th of December 2019 in DSU Executive Lecture Theatre. The core objective of this session was to educate the youth about the signs and symptoms associated with suicidal thoughts and to assist them in making healthy decisions for such victims.

The seminar was conducted by psychologists from the Institute of Behavioral Sciences by Dr. A.Q Khan Centre – DOW University of Health Sciences, organized by the CSR Department.

Grooming Session

On December 04, 2019, Department of Career Services and Corporate Relations (CS&CR) in collaboration with Alumni Relations Department organized a Grooming Session for the Final Year Students of MS Department in the ELT of DHA Suffa University. The objective of organizing grooming session for final year MS students was to prepare them for appearing in job interviews successfully. The HR team of Quick Foods Industries, bestowed their presence as speakers for this session. The lead speaker was Bushra Arsalan, Manager HR, and Uzair Jawaid, Training Executive at Quick Food Industries Pvt Ltd. Following were the major topics discussed in the session:

* Optimizing the use of LinkedIn and Networking Techniques

* Personal branding

* Interview skills

* Resume building

The session was attended by 30+ final year students of MS Department. The participants actively took part in various activities conducted during the session in full zeal. The Department of CS&CR concluded the session by presenting a token of appreciation to the speaker. A goody bag was presented by Ms. Tehseen, Director of Alumni Relations, DSU to the speaker.

Seminar on “Be a Citizen of the World and Beyond”

On December 5th, 2019, the DSU Alumni Relations Department organized a seminar on “Be a Citizen of the World and Beyond”.

The speaker for the session was Mr. Ghazi – CEO, Founder and President, Sun Consulting. Sun was incorporated in Chicago in 1984 and started its immigration services in 1988, moved to Pakistan in 1991. Since 1988 Sun has assisted over 13,000 families and individuals to immigrate to Canada. Outside China, Sun is the most successful and largest immigration consultancy firm in the world. In addition to Canada, Sun offers immigration and student visa services in the USA and Citizenship services in Europe and Caribbean Islands. After careful research the very attractive terms, Sun offers its services to those who wish to become a Citizen of the World and Beyond.

Mr. Ghazi talked about job opportunities in Japan and what path the students or alumni can follow to get Japanese citizenship on base of student visa. The seminar helped all the students of the DSU especially final year and alumni for gaining employment opportunities in Japan. They also shared the details how they are preparing interested candidates at their office for this program and they have also certified Japanese government instructor for training. At the end, there was a Question/Answer session and participants showed their interest and registered for it.
