Seminar on Activating Your Entrepreneur Within

Global Entrepreneurship Network is a year-round platform of programs and initiatives created by the communities that celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week each November.

To celebrate this global initiative, DHA Suffa’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development (C.E.I.D.) had organized a seminar on 21st November 2019, on the topic of ‘Activating your entrepreneur within’. To ensure the essence of the moment, we had invited such speakers who possess the true nature of entrepreneurship among themselves. This event was also hosted on Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Pakistan website.

For the event, we had invited Mr. Nabil Kalu, who is a prominent businessman and CEO of various companies like Design District, Kitchen Essentials, etc., a dynamic corporate trainer and an enthusiastic entrepreneur by nature. Mr. Nabil shared his journey and his early struggles of being an entrepreneur in his own unique and personalized way. He also focused his attention to discuss the common misconceptions especially whenever concepts like entrepreneurship are discussed in Pakistan’s context. In his overall discussion, he kept the regional dynamics and concepts in mind, which were relatable and well-liked by the audience.

The other speaker, Mr. Nauman Lakhani who is a businessman and also Country Manager for Dun & Bradstreet, shared his valuable entrepreneurial journey with us. He spoke about his early journey, and explains the struggles of having a career and managing a business at the same time. During his discussion, he shared his personal stories that how he was able to identify such small opportunities in a smart way, that with time leads to opening a chain of his own stores, internationally. He focused on the prime personality traits like honesty, integrity that will help the individual to sustain and grow to become not only a successful entrepreneur but also a great human being.

It was an absolute interactive sessions, as the audience was engaged constantly throughout the session. And even after a healthy Q&A session, the students were more interested in talking to the speakers after the event. The event itself was an overall success, and the turnover and response of the event was highly positive.

Session on “Inventory Management in Pharmaceutical Industry & its Modern Practices”

A Guest Speaker Session was arranged on “Inventory Management in Pharmaceutical Industry & its modern practices” for BBA V students studying Production & Operations Management course on December 09, 2019 by Ms. Erum Fatima.

The Session was conducted by Mr. Sohail Sawani, General Manager Supply Chain, Genix Pharma pvt Ltd. The Speaker talked about Inventory Management and Supply Chain Management in Pakistan.

Mr. Sohail discussed the importance of managing inventory, order levels and lead time and related all of these with special reference to pharmaceutical industry. He also talked about the problems faced when ordering inventory from outside country. The session concluded with Q&A session. The lecture was a great learning opportunity for students as it helped students relate many concepts studied in classroom to real world applications.

DSUMUN IV Launch Ceremony

DSUMUN IV presents to you the official launch ceremony of the DSUMUN IV event which took place on the 6th of December 2019. It was a ceremony to introduce the committees that the delegates have to look forward to as well as the much awaited DSUMUN IV logo reveal video. DSUMUN IV is back in action and ready to expand its horizons to places we have yet to see.

Visit to State Bank of Pakistan

Under the supervision of Ms. Tehseen Azhar, students of BBA visited State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on December 6, 2019. The objective of this visit was to provide students with an opportunity to learn about the HR Practices and Policies of SBP. The students were given a detailed orientation of the HR procedures as well SBP role as being the Head of all financial institutions. Also what steps are involved in appointing employees and interns at SBP. The group also visited the State Bank Museum and Art Gallery, where they observed a chronological display of Pakistani stamps, coins and currency notes issued after independence. Students also visited the Governors’ Gallery and saw the Declaration of Independence signed by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. In the Art Gallery, the group was enthralled to see Sadequain’s art portraying different eras. The visit was a great learning opportunity for students as it helped students relate many concepts studied in classroom to real setting.

 

MoU Signing between DHA Suffa University and Colaraz

On 23rd November 2019, DHA Suffa University embarked the innovative and progressive journey of formulating and digitizing its students’ career journey, by joining hands with Colaraz. Colaraz is a global platform for talent development, recruitment and engagement. The MOU was signed by Brig. Muhammad Rafiq Ahmed (Registrar) representing DHA Suffa University, in the presence of Mr. Muhammad Afzal Haque (Vice. Chancellor), Engr. Dr. Johar Khurshid (Dean), Mr. Kamran Saeed (Director CS & CR). Mr. Mubashar Hameed the Co-founder and CEO of Colaraz himself was present to sign the MOU, accompanied with Mr. Mohsin M. Siddique the Project Manager of Colaraz.

Mock Interviews

On December 11th 2019, The Department of Career Services and Corporate Relations (CS&CR) in collaboration with Alumni Relations Department organized a Mock Interview for the Final Year Students of MS Department at DHA Suffa University. The objective of Mock Interviews for final year MS students was to prepare them for appearing in job interviews aptly and successfully. The Interviewer for the Mock Interviews was Shahrukh Ali, Manager Talent Acquisition at Gul Ahmed and Ms. Tehseen Azhar, Director Alumni Relations at DSU.

The session was attended by 30+ final year students of MS Department. The Department of CS&CR concluded the session by presenting a token of appreciation to the speaker. A goody bag and a shield was presented by Ms. Tehseen, Director of Alumni Relations, DSU to the speaker.
