Seminar on Energy Conservation & Renewable Energy

DSU’s PDC (Professional Development Center) and IERC (International Education Resource Center) jointly organized a seminar on Energy Conservation & Renewable Energy on 7th Oct 2019 in the DSU Auditorium.  A team from K-Electric (KE) headed by KE’s Assistant Manager ‘Communications & Energy Conservation’ gave a presentation to students on the importance of Energy Conservation as a stepping stone towards Global Sustainable Development.  A German expert in the field of ‘Power Generation and Power Distribution Networks’ from the SES (Senior Experten Service-Bonn, Germany), also spoke at the seminar on the need to tap various sources of renewable energy including solar & wind power and integrate them with the national grid, to reduce burden off limited fossil fuel reserves.

This seminar was an excellent opportunity for DSU’s students to learn about United Nation’s (UN’s) goals for Global Sustainable Development, in particular Goal 7 “Affordable and Clean Energy”.

DSU’s ME Department students winning at Suparco’s Inter University Project Competition 2019

Suparco’s Inter University Project Competition 2019 comprising of 9 universities from all across Pakistan took place on 6th Oct 2019 in PAF Museum Karachi. DSU’s Mechanical Department’s project “Development and Analysis of a Single leg for a Quadruped Robot” under the supervision of Engr. Najiullah Hussaini secured the 1st position and won 30,000 Pakistani Rupees in cash prize. The judges were impressed by the level of ingenuity and depth of knowledge the team was equipped with. The team was as follows:

3) Muhammad Wasay Ali

4) Rana Junaid Khalid

Currently, the team is working on and improving their Robotics knowledge and implementation. Research Papers and global outreach is one of their targets over the coming year.

 

Session on ‘Ethics in Business’ by Mr. Humayun Jamshed

On October 9th 2019, DHA Suffa University organized an informative session ‘Ethics in Business’ by Renowned Islamic Finance Consultant Mr. Humayun Jamshed brother of Junaid Jamshed. He had an informative session with the students and the faculty of DHA Suffa University in which he talked about different principles of doing business according to Islam and Ethics. An extensive interactive session followed the talk in which multi faceted queries were answered by the honorable guest speaker. DHA Suffa University is committed to bring its students at par with emerging trends in related fields.

Recruitment Drive – Sky Electric

The department of Career Services & Corporate Relations (CS & CR) organized a recruitment drive by Sky Electric at DHA Suffa University on September 26, 2019. The team from Sky Electric commenced the session by a brief company introduction followed by On-Spot Interviews. The recruitment drive was attended by graduates and final year students of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering departments.

The department of CS & CR at DHA Suffa University uses recruitment drives as one of the strategically designed tools to engage key organizations for acquiring and retaining the best talent available in the university. The companies get a chance to familiarize the students with its hiring policies/procedures, share available opportunities and address individual queries.

 

Seminar at DSU on Higher Education Opportunities in USA

DHA Suffa University’s IERC (International Education Resource Center) organized a seminar on post-graduate opportunities in USA in collaboration with USEFP (United States Education Foundation in Pakistan) on 2nd October 2019.  Representatives from seven different US universities spoke at the seminar, apprising students of higher education possibilities available to prospective students at their respective universities.  The US universities represented at the seminar were ‘The University of Texas at Arlington’, ‘Oklahoma City University’, ‘St. Louis University’, ‘Michigan State University’, ‘Marshall University’ and the ‘University of Alabama Birmingham’.  The seminar, followed by an interactive session, was attended by DSU’s final year students. It was an excellent opportunity for them to consider USA as a possible destination for post-graduate studies and interact with US University officials to seek answers to their queries.

DSU Community Academy Sports Day

DSU students had initiated a literacy program -DSU Community Academy, in which student volunteers of DSU teach the children of the slums of Qayyumabad in order to serve the community. The CSR department has conducted several events for the children of Qayyumabad in order for them to have an essence of co-curricular activities as well as academic learning.

On the 19th of September 2019, a sports fest was organized by the CSR and Sports Department for 14 DSU Academy children (7-14 year olds) in DSU basketball court. Student volunteers of the DSU Community Academy organized this event under the supervision of Sports department. The tournaments included a dart game and a cricket game. Grouping of the team was done by Sir Moin ul Atiq (Sports Director), and team captains were made amongst the children of Qayyumabad. A prize distribution ceremony was held at the end of the event, in which trophies were given to the winners and certificates were distributed to all the participants of the games. The event was thoroughly enjoyed by all participants.
