The members of the Charter Inspection and Evaluation Committee (CIEC) of Sindh Higher Education Commission (SHEC) along with the members of their Experts Sub-Committee (ESC) visited the University’s DCK campus on 14th July 2023 for their scheduled 9th round of Inspection Visits for the Monitoring, Evaluation and Grading of DHA Suffa University. After the completion of the departmental rounds by the experts, the esteemed CIEC members discussed with the authorities various aspects of the University operations and growth pertaining to the DCK campus. Senior University officers responded to the respected guests with their input.
DHA Suffa University conducted Self-Review of PG programs on 7th April 2023 with the objective to ascertain whether these programs meet their educational objectives and outcomes as per HEC’s criteria. The Review Panel comprised of Engr. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Saand (Professor CE, Convener), Dr. Huma Jamshed (Assistant Professor Computer Science, Member) and Engr. Dr. Syed Fazal Abbas Baqueri (Assistant Professor Civil Engineering, Member).
The panel reviewed the program proformas, program files, faculty files and student files as per HEC’s checklist. The panel also conducted Q&A sessions with MS & PhD students as well as faculty members of PG programs. The panel toured the campus and visited the library, classrooms and laboratories to observe the quality of facilities available on campus.
In the end, the panel met the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal Haque and shared their views about the review process undertaken by the panel.
The review process was facilitated by the QEC at DHA Suffa University in collaboration with the academic and administrative departments.

The QEC Department of the University hosted a national seminar on Quality Benchmarking for Teaching & Learning in Higher Education on 8th February 2023. The objective of the seminar was to explore various strategies for setting and measuring the quality of teaching and learning in higher education institutions. QECs from all over Pakistan participated in this seminar on-campus as well as online. One of the speakers Mr. Imranullah Khan Marwat (Director Quality Assurance, Higher Education Department, KP HEC) joined the seminar online from Peshawar. The keynote talk was delivered by Dr. Muhammad Abdul Wahid Usmani (Director QEC, Jinnah Sindh Medical University).
The seminar commenced with Mr. Marwat’s session focused on best practices of academic administration in teaching and learning. Mr. Marwat discussed the key foundational quality concepts and terminologies that led to an in-depth dialogue on benchmarking for continuous improvement, academic management in higher education institutions in relation to teaching and learning, various modes of assessment, and the challenges faced by higher education institutions with reference to quality assurance.
The second session by Dr. Usmani focused on best practices in quality assurance of teaching and learning at DAIs. Dr. Usmani discussed the core domains of best practices including curriculum, students, faculty, assessment, management, and learning environment and resources. He apprised the participants of various benchmarking tools that can be used by higher education institutions to gauge quality. These included matrix for mapping Program Learning Outcomes, developing SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) Learning Outcomes, and Table of Specification. He also discussed the various questions/prompts that higher education institutions should ask themselves in order to assess their quality of teaching and learning.
The seminar was kept interactive and participants were encouraged to ask questions and share feedback regarding best practices of quality assurance being observed at their respective institutions. The seminar ended with a vote of thanks to the participants and guest speakers by the honorable Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal Haque. The seminar offered a good networking opportunity to participants over refreshments.

Tatheer Yawar Ali, currently working as IERC Executive at DHA Suffa University, holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from SZABIST, Karachi and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Karachi University. Her major responsibilities as IERC Executive include collaboration and coordination with DSU’s international partners, briefing students about international education opportunities and facilitating them to pursue higher education abroad as well as planning and conducting on-campus seminars and events pertaining to higher education opportunities in Europe, Turkey, Malaysia and China.

Marium Shamim earned her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Karachi. She is currently pursuing her CMA from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP). She is presently serving as IERC Executive and is responsible for coordination with DSU’s international partners and facilitating students aspiring to complete higher education from foreign universities. She is also actively involved in arranging events relating to promotion of higher education opportunities abroad.
Makhdoomzada Asadullah Siddiqui holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from NUST, Karachi. Presently, he is serving as the Director of DSU’s IERC, which is responsible for collaborating with foreign universities and facilitating DSU’s students to benefit from the higher education opportunities available at leading international universities.
