Authentic Living- & Climate Change (PLS)

A lecture on ‘Authentic Living – & Climate Change’ was recently held at DHA Suffa University featuring renowned Executive Coach, Consultant & Climate Change Lobbyist Mr. Sarfaraz’ A. Rehman. Mr. Rehman is also Ex CEO Engro Foods and Country Head Pepsi Co. In the beginning of the session, the speaker talked about the importance of authentic living, and carving a niche for yourself despite going through the same educational and professional experiences like everyone else. In the second half of the lecture Mr. Rehman spoke about climate change, scarcity of resources, and the looming water crisis in the world, and its impact on Pakistan. Sharing his valuable insight on the subject, he even suggested simple steps that the youth can take to slow down the process of climate change and advised attendees to use natural resources more responsibly.

Session on Significance of Communication Skills (EPC)

On October 19, 2018, DHA Suffa University hosted a session on Significance of Communication Skills for Professional and Personal Growth of Individuals. The interactive session, attended by students and faculty members, focused on presenting a distinct perspective of communication skills to the audience. The session featured Ms. Gul Zaib Shakeel, a seasoned writer currently working as the Head Writer at Teeli of (a digital channel) and teaching A-level students at Karachi Grammar School. An alumnus of SZABIST, Ms. Gul Zaib Shakeel previously served a renowned media channel as a screenwriter and worked on local and international scripts. She also worked on Moor, a feature length film that became Pakistan’s official submission for Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Annual Academy Awards. Engaging the audience with real-life examples, Ms. Gul Zaib Shakeel discussed the impact of effective verbal and non-verbal communication on the personal and professional success of individuals. With the help of demonstrations, she emphasized the importance of posture, appearance, gestures, facial expressions and other non-verbal cues that take precedence over verbal communication. She also shared useful communication tips that can help individuals stand out in the competitive professional environment of today. The session helped the audience develop a better understanding of how effective communication skills can help individuals achieve their academic and career aspirations.

MoU- ‘International Business Council (IBC)’ Oct-19th

DHA Suffa University (DSU) signed an MoU with the ‘International Business Council (IBC)’ on 19th Oct, 2018. Under the scope of this MoU, IBC shall be facilitating DHA Suffa University’s academic linkages with foreign universities, organizing foreign study visits for DHA Suffa University’s students and assisting university in offering joint degree programs in collaboration with international universities. IBC shall also be contributing to the professional growth and development of DSU’s ‘Professional Development Center (PDC)’ by inviting foreign experts to DHA Suffa University for giving professional lectures.

Final Year Projects 2018

The innovative and product-oriented design projects of Mechanical Engineering final year students of DHA Suffa University were exhibited at the University in ProEx 2018.
The event was attended by executives and representatives of Pakistan Refinery Ltd.; Star Air Aviation; Pakistan Beverage Ltd.; Pak Suzuki; KTDMC, AuVitronics Limited; Crescent Steels Pvt. Ltd.; KinPoe; STEM; Feroz 1888 Mills Ltd.; Hussein Engineering Works Pvt. Ltd.; Mapak Edible Oils Pvt. Ltd. and Bank Islami.
Two keynote speakers from industry, Mr. Ghulam Hussain, Executive Director Star Air Aviation and Engr. Asad Hasan, Deputy Managing Director Pakistan Refinery Limited addressed the students. They emphasized the role of Engineers in Aviation Industry within Pakistan and the Middle East and on the importance of professional ethics in their careers respectively. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Sarfraz Hussain addressed the ceremony appreciating the participation of the industry professionals, adding that their attendance serves as source of encouragement for the students.
Several product oriented and innovative design projects of multi-disciplinary and applied nature developed by Mechanical Engineering students of DHA Suffa University were put on display. These included cost-effective Multi-Filament 3D Printer; Water Jet Cutting Machine; Plasma Cutting Machine; Autonomous Soil Analyzer Rover; Agriculture Crop Duster Sprayer UAV; Agricultural Water Treatment System; Fresh Air Supply Smart System for Warehouses and Subsonic Wind Tunnel.
The industrial representatives praised the professional excellence, engineering prowess and workmanship of Mechanical Engineering students. They also acknowledged the level of knowledge and skills imparted by highly qualified faculty to the students of Mechanical Engineering Department.

Age of Innovation

The Final Year Project “Smart Utilization of Energy Trainer” secured first position on a national platform from the Electrical Engineering Department of DHA Suffa University. The FYP participated in the semi-final round of “IEEE SS12 – Age of Innovation” competition held at Usman Institute of Technology (UIT) on 7th August 2018. The students “Khurram Nazeer” and “Danish Khan Tanoli” will now participate in the final round of “IEEE SS12 ASIA 2018 – Age of Innovation.”, which will be held on 8th and 9th September 2018 at “ NSBM Green University, Colombo Sri Lanka ” to represent Pakistan on the international Platform.

Open Day 2018

DHA Suffa University opened its doors to the general public on Sunday 15th July 2018, between 10:00 am and 7:00 pm. All the teaching and support staff fully participated in the event with complete dedication and sincerity throughout the day long event. All academic departments showcased their laboratories and facilities on campus as well as student projects in their respective fields.
Prof. Ejaz Ahmed Farooqi, an eminent educationist and philanthropist visited our campus and took keen interest in our student projects. He was also very pleased to see the facilities provided by the University. The event was mainly planned and organized by Electrical Engineering Department and was advertised extensively through social media marketing as well through distribution of event flyers at various coaching centers and colleges by faculty members of Electrical Engineering department. They also visited DHA colleges for this campaign.
Over 200 guests visited DSU campus comprising of parents and families of aspiring candidates. They appreciated the lab facilities, highly qualified faculty and overall learning environment of the University. The DSU faculty fully engaged each visitor one-on-one to address their queries, confusion and concerns. They were also briefed by Dean and HoDs about the scope of DSU as potential place of learning for the bright futures of their sons and daughters. Guests were entertained with refreshments at the DSU cafeteria after the campus-wide round. A parallel session was also conducted by Computer Science department for career counselling of prospective students.
