An overseas Pakistani non-profit organization, DICE Foundation Inc. run by expatriates working in automobile industry in the United States, Canada, UK and Germany volunteered their time and services to design and manufacture Pakistan’s own electric vehicle. DICE Foundation Inc. signed an MoU on 09th April 2021 with DHA Suffa University (DSU) to create a shared facility with a team of mechanical engineers from DSU to provide technical analysis, create best practices and support rest of the team to indigenize Pakistan’s first electric vehicle. That shared facility came to be known as DACCE – DICE Automotive Computer Aided Engineering Center of Excellence. Since its inauguration, DACCE has been playing a pivotal role in the Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) of the systems and subsystems of the electric vehicle. The team has been performing upfront CAE and working tirelessly to iteratively design, analyze and test the subsystems of the electric vehicle in virtual environment through advanced computational techniques. A few analyses encompass the domains of aerodynamics, structures, crash test, durability, vehicle dynamics, NVH etc. DHA Suffa University maintains a cluster of CAD and computational analyses (CAE) software necessary to perform these simulations. To name a few are ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS CFD, ANSYS LS DYNA, ANSYS HFSS, PTC Creo & SolidWorks etc. All these software tools have been utilized to its optimum in the iterative design process of the electric vehicle systems and subsystems. The main idea is not to reverse engineer but to design and manufacture the electric vehicle in-line with International standards. The first prototype will be ready and revealed by the end of 2021!
